Commanders Outgoing Comments

June, 2022

Comrades,

This is the last monthly comments that I will be sending out. It has been a great experience serving as your District Commander. I am grateful for the support I received; I hope each post will support the incoming Commander as you have supported me.

With your continuous support and reporting, the District made All State and All American! Each post can give yourself, and each other, a pat on the back.

I would like to express my thanks to all Posts in the district working on their mandatory requirements. You have made the district shine, but there are still posts who have items that need to be completed such as second and third quarter audits, membership, IRS 990, and MAP. These need to be completed and turned in ASAP. There are still some
outstanding VPRs. The District has seven posts over 100%, one post at 99.5%. I know every post can also reach this goal. I would like to see all posts achieve All-State and All-American status.

ALL Commanders and staff, must be proactive, contact unpaid members and potential new members to explain the
many benefits of the VFW. Motivate all your members to do this on a regular basis. Plan your membership drives ahead of time. The District is there to help the needs of the posts. One membership or poppy drive is never enough. The membership chairman, with the aid of members, can set up more than one recruiting station. There is still time to
achieve the goal of 100% + 1.

The State Convention is June 15-19 at the Choctaw Casino Hotel, in Durant Ok. At that time the new Commander will
be elected and installed, and all 22-23 Post Commanders will take charge of their posts.

Commanders check your stat sheet. I am sure there are requirements you have completed that have not been logged on the stat sheet. If you have not completed the requirements, it is time to get started.

VPRs are due at Texas VFW for

  • June 14 – Flag Day

Respectfully,

Reece Carter
