District 14 Commander Monthly Comments

June 2021

Post Commanders, Comrades and Auxiliaries Members,

I would like to start off by saying: Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! for letting me be your Commander for 2018-2019 year. We have had a great year within the District with 10 Posts out of 11 being 100% in membership and making All-State this year and 4 to 6 Posts making All-American.

As we approach the State Convention in Houston (12-16 June 2019) (Click Here to Read Events for the Convention) this month and as I turn over the District to our incoming Commander Anson Booker, I know he will receive the same support I have from all the Post Commanders across the District.

Remember outgoing and incoming Commanders you had 3 VPRs in May that counts toward 2019-2020 year. They are Loyalty Day (May 1, 2019), VE Day: German unconditional surrender signed, 1945 (May 8, 2019) and Memorial Day (May 27, 2019). This month you will have two more VPRs - June 6 - D Day: Allied invasion of Europe, 1944 and June 14 - Flag Day.

The new 2019-2020 year Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars Standard Operating Procedures for Texas VFW Posts can be downloaded from the Department of Texas VFW website - Click Here.

Post Commanders if your delegates need a ride to State Convention to vote on Saturday please make arrangement with Junior Vice Commander Anson Booker and his phone number is 254-371-2579. As the second largest District in the State we want to have all our votes accounted for this year.

2019 Officer Training Seminar in Austin, Texas on July 11-13, 2019 (Click Here to Read Schedule of Events). Hope to see you there!

Let's remember we have our National VFW Convention in Orlando, Florida on July 20 through 24, 2019. Hope to see you there!

Districts 14, 8 & 28 will be hosting a Hospitality Room at the State Convention so come on out and let’s enjoy true camaraderie. To the Comrades and many dedicated members of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and VFW Auxiliary, again Thank you for all you do for Veterans.

Yours in Camaraderie,

Loy Dean Gardner II
