District14 VFW Auxiliary President Monthly Comments

   Jul, 2022

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

What a fantastic Department Convention! Congratulations to Karen Kaylor as she now is a PAST Department President. What a great year she had, and we are especially proud that she is of our own District 14, and a member of 4008. Thank you (and Don), Madam Past Department President for everything you have accomplished!

We were especially pleased with the representation of District 14 with our attendance and contributions. We counted twenty-three in attendance, with nine out of ten auxiliaries represented. Of those twenty-three, thirteen participated in the meetings either as an officer, presenter, or a volunteer page. A personal thank you!

ALL the following provided a superb showing from District 14 for the Art Contests! I hope all of you have begun contacting the school districts, private and parochial schools, sharing the information gathered for this year’s contests! Call Dan Cone if you have questions!
FIRST PLACE in the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. We were very pleased Alayna Steele, a tenth grade student at Faith Academy in Marble Falls, and her family were present to receive her plaque and $500 check. She was sponsored by Marble Falls VFW and Auxiliary 10376. Watch for the outcome of the National Contest!!! Nail-biting!!!

 For the Illustrating America:
FOURTH PLACE: The HEART by ADDISON MILLER, Category K-2, a second grader at Faith Academy, Marble Falls TX, also sponsored by Marble Falls VFW Auxiliary 10376.
SECOND PLACE: The EAGLE & FLAG by ALEYANA PERDOMO, Category 5-8, a sixth grader at Copperas Cove Junior High School, Copperas Cove TX. She was sponsored by Copperas Cove VFW Auxiliary 8577.

Now to get down to work! We have finalized many lists and charts for our Auxiliaries to function on a higher level. We are working on training sessions and will provide all information at that time. It is highly recommend everyone do all they can to help strengthen communications and teamwork in our District. We have been challenged to work together by mentoring each other and to accomplish goals as a TEAM! Our new
Department of Texas President Jeanenne Lumpkin chose as her theme: TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE FOR OUR VETERANS. Our National Programs Handbook is HANDS THAT SERVE, HEARTS THAT CARE. This applies in many situations, especially on a local and District level. Using T.E.A.M as your initial thought,
will foster a stronger Auxiliary.
