Chaplain Corner - July 2019
July 1, 2019
From the Chaplain’s Pen ……………………………………………. Chaplain Al Lowe
Well spring has come and gone, and we are in the Texas heat of summer. I am not sure where is a place to go to stay cool, but I am going to try and find it. I have been released from the various physicians who tried to figure out why I had a stroke – they did not and remain bewildered as to why I had a stroke.
The State convention was an interesting time. It is to our combined loss the passing of Doc Howard. Many people had many good things to say of this gentleman. And then there was the voting for a replacement for Doc as State Surgeon. He had the job in his mind, knowing so many influential people and how to get the things he needed for us. His replacement is Gerry Green, and I suppose he will do a fine job also. It will take some time for Gerry to get up to speed, but he will do it. As we left the convention, there was a poster of Doc that Gerry was going to take to Doc’s wife. I asked for the poster for the purpose of making a frame and framing that poster. Attached is the framed picture of Doc Howard.
Over the coming year, I am will attempt to visit many Districts, trying to get the Commanders to BRING their Chaplain to the meeting. I will do the same with the Auxiliary. The purpose is to train the people on a few issues such that regardless the Post an individual might go, the Memorial will be the same, conducted by Comrades who have been shown the proper means of doing a Memorial.
Well time to get on with July. I pray God’s blessings on all and hope to see you downrange.
See you down range!
