From the Chaplain’s Pen.........................................................................Chaplain Al Lowe

Well it is official.  With the conclusion of the Department and National Conventions, we have a new District 14 Commander, Comrade Anson Booker, and a new Department of Texas Commander, Comrade Keith King. It now becomes the honor to respect these two gentlemen – along with all who have been elected and or appointed.  There are new ideas to engage. There are new goals to attain.  There is a different attitude – and all of this is new with every election.

Among other things, Commander King has directed me to visit as many Districts as I can with training on the presentation of the Memorial Ceremony. The Memorial is one of the more important elements we experience as Comrades in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. It is at the Memorial that those Comrades who passed on this past year are recognized for their membership and participation in the VFW.

During this year we will experience training via the internet. Many events will be taped and added to the web site for the use of the VFW comrade. Eventually the Memorial will be a part of this library.

I am excited with the many opportunities we can all participate, making this organization more effective to the new and experienced comrades. Together we look forward with the minds set of what we can do, and especially what we can do together.

I think you for this opportunity!
